Been a weekend of craziness! Jason took off at midnight on Thurs/Friday to head to Bangor, Maine for Ben and Andrea's wedding. He had a great time and the pics I have seen thus far look like it was a perfectly executed wedding! I wish I could have been there.
Mom and Dad came down to help me with Alex. We took him down to play with Christian on Saturday and the two of them had a blast. They went swimming and played with Christians toys.
Jason calls me on Sunday to let me know that his flight out of Bangor had been cancelled, I thought he was kidding, he wasn't. The entire Eastern Seaboard was shut down with thunder storms. Jason crashed at Andrea and Ben's and headed out to NYC early (6 am) on Monday. He was delayed in NYC by an hour and finally arrived back in Denver at 1 pm. Then he had to take my mom to Georgetown to meet my dad, since he had to leave on Sunday to get back to meetings on Monday. I swear that man is a saint. I know he was exhausted, but Alex was SO Excited to see him.
When Alex came home yesterday mom and I noticed red bumps on his hands. We shrugged them off since they didn't seem to bother him and he didn't have them anywhere else. He was complaining about his mouth hurting (translation, sore throat) so we got him some medicine and put him down.
Well, on Tuesday, I get a call from the Wooden Shoe, his school letting me know that he is one of about 5 kids with Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (really if it is that harmless, do they have to put disease in the name?) the nice woman preceeded to tell me that it is harmless and there is nothing to really do (meanwhile I was already googling). I thought that was a cattle disease, but that would be hoof and mouth, which makes logical sense.
Called his doc, my doc and all is well, Benadryl for Alex, keep washing my hands for me. Ahhh...the joys. I just want it cleared up before Michael arrives! They didn't even want me to pick him up at school. He has no "sick" symptoms, just the rash on his hands and in his mouth. But the poor guy had FINALLY earned the right to go swimming (an entire week of accident free pottying) and he couldn't go because of this. I swear the little guy never wins!
